software platforms and building custom products out of it. Interchain
is proud to announce the launch of its unique Single Board Computer
based on Automotive and Industrial grade computing platform called
GWSBC500. This is designed on the concept of portable Single Board
Computer which incorporates all the basic features of a computer, namely
- Powerful Processer (Arm cortex A8 @500Mhz – 1 GHz)
- DDR2 Ram
- Flash Memory
- Wifi to connect to network
- Bluetooth to connect the peripherals like mouse, keyboard
- USB connectivity to connect other gadgets

- Micro SD Card slot for extra memory
- LCD interface with a 800*480 resolution display with a resistive touch support
- DVI out
- Li-Ion Battery Charger
all at a unimaginably small size. This device has been made with a very
hard emphasis on size. The board is a 10 layered one and all the
components placed at are as minimum distance together as possible. The
board also has a 3 expansion slots where the various external
interfaces have been terminated. This can be used to connect other
peripherals to this with ease.
The GWSBC500 can run any OPEN OS. It comes with a prebuilt version of
Android with all the drivers incorporated into it. The source is
available which will be delivered with the hardware. Android is the
most popular OS at the moment for any portable hardware. With its
unique UI and the capability to write fast track applications using its
application framework and also coupling millions of apps in its market
it makes a very good OS for any portable device.
Opportunities
GWSBC, the Sing Board Computer is based on a high performance and cost
effective design. Interchain is open towards working with partners for
on various opportunities including
- Building customized products leveraging on GWSBC500
- Design and Know-how transfer / licensing GWSBC500 design
- Supply of GWSBC500 in bulk in the form of finished units
Expansion Slot 1 has the following interfaces 3*I2C, SPI, 2*McBSP, USB, 2*UART, CAN, S-Video Out, Ethernet.
Expansion Slot 2 has the following interfaces HSUSB, MMC1, MMC2, McBSP, FM.
The SBS has 2 expansion slots which expose all the interfaces coming
from the processor. This provides a neat layout for expandability and
customisation.
SBC also comes with a LCD connector for connecting a specific LCD
selected by Interchain. Any other LCD can be interfaced by making a
small daughter board to map the pin configurations.
Modular Approach
SBC500 has been designed with complete modularity in mind. The mother
board has all the basic features required for the system to run as a
standalone linux machine. The board has a standard 60 pin connector
which is placed in the adjacent sides of the board. You can easily
create a peripheral board designed to do a custom work with custom
peripherals and integrate into the system.
Interchain already has made 2 peripheral boards based on custom requirements.
- Smart card and Finger Print
Interchain has integrated a peripheral board which will act as an
authentication and authorisation medium for the device. This has a
finger print sensor from Authentec communicating through the McBSP line
and a CLRC632 IC with a compact antenna for it. This will transform the
device into a portable authentication device.
- GSM GPS board
Interchain has integrated a peripheral board with a GSM modem with GPRS
and EDGE capabilities. Also a GPS chipset with an internal antenna.
This will directly transform the device to a complete Mobile Phone.
This can also be used as a portable medium to provide turn by turn
navigation.
Similar to this any other custom board can directly be integrated to this system with ease.
Software Stack with the device
Interchain has dedicated team of system developers with good experience
in device porting and device driver development and Android porting.
Interchain has successfully integrated every peripheral on the board.
Interchain has an upto date customised X-Loader, U-boot with boot from
Nand, MMC and UART supported out of the box. Interchain has the latest
kernel version ported to the board with all the device drivers
integrated.
Interchain also has successfully integrated the drivers for the
authentech finger print IC and also has a sample application running on
android which simulated the lock/Unlock through the finger print. It
also has a sample android application which marks the attendance of a
employee based in the swipe of a smart card. Interchain has complete
source for these applications including the libraries for android and
the ndk layer to expose the lib functions into java for android.
